The Financial Institutions Policy Committee (FIPC)

The Financial Institutions Policy Committee (FIPC) is one of the main committees of the Bank of Thailand. The FIPC is responsible for setting prudential policy, regulations and supervisory practices to ensure the safety and soundness of financial institutions.

Authority, Duties and Responsibilities

1.  determine policies concerning supervising and examining the financial institutions

2.  monitor the BOT’s operation regarding a banker to financial institutions and the supervision and examination of financial institutions

3.  determine policies concerning financial institutions

4.  determine policies on opening and closing branches of the financial institutions

5.  determine financial proportion, which financial institutions are subjected to comply with under the law on financial institutions businesses

6.  give an opinion or recommendation concerning the establishment of a new financial institution
