New Year’s Eve |
For financial institutions in Narathiwat, Pattani, Yala, and Satun, an extra holiday is given for the Eidilfitri Day (Ramadan Day) announced by the Sheikhul Islam Office if it does not fall on any of the holidays listed above or Saturday and Sunday.
In addition, the Bank of Thailand has designated 23 January 2012 to be a special holiday for financial institutions located in the respective area in order to support the government policy.
Remarks:
1/ The Bank of Thailand announces only one substitution for (i) New Year’s Eve and New Year’s day (i.e. 2 Jan 2012) and (ii) Songkran Festival (i.e. 16 April 2012). The announcement has been made in accordance with the Cabinet’s Resolution on 3 February 2004, i.e., no more than one substitution will be given for any holidays that take place at the weekend.
2/ The year 2012 is Atigamas year which is the year that has double 8th months according to Thai lunar calendar. Therefore, the Makha Bucha day which is normally on the Waxing 15 Evening of the 3rd lunar month will be shifted to the Waxing 15 Evening of the 4th lunar month instead.
3/ In the case where the Mid-Year Closing Day takes place at the weekend, the Bank of Thailand shall not announce any substitution for that day.
