  Oversight of e-Payment Service Providers 

Bank of Thailand has responsibility to oversight e-Payment services by using two laws as follows:

  • The Royal Decree Regulating Electronic Payment Service Business, B.E. (2551) 2008  which announce in the government gazette on September 16, 2008 and went into effect on January 14, 2009
  • B.E. Notification of the Ministry of Finance: Business that Requires a Permit According to Section 5 of the Notification of the Revolution Council No. 58 (Business of Electronic Money Card) dated October 4, 2004 

E-payment services that are applicable under the law comprise of 8 categories as follows: 

  1. E-money Service
  2. Credit Card Network Service
  3. EDC Network Service
  4. Transaction Switching Service for payment
  5. Clearing Service
  6. Settlement Service
  7. Payment Service Provider service
  8. Electronic Payment Service through any device or network
