Mr. Veerathai Santiprabhob, Governor of the Bank of Thailand (BOT), and H.E. Le Minh Hung, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) together with high-level delegations from both sides participated in the Bilateral Meeting between the two institutions on 5 August 2019 Ha Noi, Vietnam. The meeting aimed to promote banking and financial cooperation between the two countries. The discussion included collaborations on banking supervision, the promotion of cross-border payment connectivity, local currency usage and cybersecurity.
In addition, the two governors signed two Memoranda of Understanding on Cooperation and Exchange of Information in Banking Supervision, and on Cooperation in the Area of Financial Innovation, which would further lead to financial integration between the two countries and in the sub-region, supporting the sustainable economic growth and development going forward.
On this occasion, Mr. Veerathai Santiprabhob and the BOT’s delegation also paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. He appreciated the cooperation between the two central banks in cross-border payment linkage and banking sector connectivity to facilitate trade and investment between Thailand and Vietnam.
