Research and development is significant to generate sustainability to the organization, and creating a substantial contribution that can lead to further success.
From the concept of self-reliance, Banknote Management Group (BMG) has started researching and developing the varnishes and inks for banknotes since 1969 and succeeded in 1974, which made BMG discontinue supplying inks from overseas.
In 1992, BMG has expanded its research and development to other related areas. Nowadays, the management of research and development is under the supervision Banknote Research Department.
There are 2 major objectives of research and development of the BMG as follows:
Research and development in banknote security features: ink for machine readable tools, color-shifting ink, fluorescent ink, latent image ink, etc.
Research and development for Increasing efficiency, reducing cost, and developing alternative materials: the automated banknote feeding system for sorting machine, Management Information System (MIS) for banknote production, Tung oil varnishes, etc.

For more than 40 years, research and development of
BMG has improved the quality of Thai banknotes, along with enhancing new
security features while reducing the cost. BMG is still committed to develop
the research and operations, to serve its strategic objectives in innovation
and sustainability, and comparable with other world class organization.
