Virtual banks are a new type of commercial banks that will be introduced in Thailand. Virtual banks must not set up physical branches and offer services mainly through the digital channel. The Bank of Thailand is currently designing the selection criteria and regulation for virtual banks. The application process is expected to begin in 2023.
