Mr. Piti Disyatat currently serves as Deputy Governor for Monetary Stability overseeing monetary policy, financial markets and operations, as well as foreign exchange reserve management. He is a member of the Monetary Policy Committee, the Financial Institutions Policy Committee, and the board of the Puey Ungphakorn Institute for Economic Research.
Prior to his current position, he has worked in various areas of the Bank of Thailand including monetary policy, financial risk management, and monetary operations. He was also the founding Executive Director of the Puey Ungpakorn Institute for Economic Research. Before joining the Bank of Thailand, he worked as an economist at the International Monetary Fund and has also held various positions at the Bank for International Settlements, most recently as senior adviser between 2019-2021. He has published extensively including in top academic journals in the field of monetary economics and international finance and has also served as adjunct faculty in the economics department at Chulalongkorn University and Thammasat University in Thailand.
He holds a Bachelor of Economics (First Class Honours) from the Australian National University and a Ph.D. from Princeton University. He was awarded the Puey Ungphakorn Golden Medal Award for Best Young Economist in 2011 and is the highest ranked economic researcher in Thailand according to RePEc/IDEAS international rankings.
