Mr. Somchai Lertlarpwasin serves as the Assistant Governor of the Financial Institutions Policy Group, responsible for financial institutions’ strategy, regulatory policy, financial institution business supervision, and financial stability. In this role, he determines the financial landscape direction by empowering the financial sector to drive innovation and enhancing financial services through initiatives such as Virtual Banking and the “Your Data” project. He also steers the financial sector to transition toward sustainability and promotes financial access. Additionally, he serves as secretary of the Financial Institutions Policy Committee. 

 

Prior to his current role, he directed several departments that covered financial institutions’ strategy, market conduct, financial literacy, procurement and facilities management, as well as management of the regional office.

 

Mr. Somchai holds and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Kent, UK and a Master of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics, UK.
