Mr. Vitai Ratanakorn, Governor of the Bank of Thailand (BOT), delivered a keynote address titled “Thailand's New Horizons: Empowering People, Building Resilience” at The Bangkok Business Summit 2026: Reinvent Thailand, Resilient ASEAN, held as part of the Road to Thailand initiative ahead of Thailand's hosting of the IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings in October 2026.

In his address, the Governor highlighted that as economic shocks become more frequent and global uncertainties more complex, Thailand must strengthen both its long-term competitiveness and resilience to create a stronger foundation for sustainable growth.

The Thailand's New Horizons vision is anchored on four priorities: 

• Accelerating digital transformation and AI adoption
• Building resilience in an increasingly fragmented world
• Developing a financial system that supports climate transition and adaptation
• Preparing for demographic change and the rise of the longevity economy

The Governor also underscored the role of the financial sector in enabling Thailand's digital future while ensuring that digital finance remains safe, trusted, and accessible to all.

Moreover, the IMF and the World Bank Group, together with the BOT, will present the Bangkok Blueprint, a strategic initiative designed to strengthen the response to financial fraud and scams in the digital age. The BOT is also coordinating with key financial-sector stakeholders in preparation for the launch of the Framework on Safeguarding the Financial Sector from Illicit Activities, a sector-wide initiative aimed at preventing the misuse of the financial system for illegal and fraudulent activities. The framework will be jointly announced on 10 September 2026.
