Mr. Vitai Ratanakorn, Governor of the Bank of Thailand (BOT), delivered a keynote address titled “Thailand's New Horizons: Empowering People, Building Resilience” at The Bangkok Business Summit 2026: Reinvent Thailand, Resilient ASEAN, held as part of the Road to Thailand initiative ahead of Thailand's hosting of the IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings in October 2026.
In his address, the Governor highlighted that as economic shocks become more frequent and global uncertainties more complex, Thailand must strengthen both its long-term competitiveness and resilience to create a stronger foundation for sustainable growth.
The Thailand's New Horizons vision is anchored on four priorities:
The Governor also underscored the role of the financial sector in enabling Thailand's digital future while ensuring that digital finance remains safe, trusted, and accessible to all.
To support this transition, the BOT is advancing the Bangkok Blueprint, a strategic roadmap to strengthen the resilience of the financial sector and enhance protection against financial fraud in the digital age.
The BOT is also preparing to launch the Framework on Safeguarding the Financial Sector from Illicit Activities, a sector-wide initiative aimed at preventing the misuse of the financial system for illegal and fraudulent activities. The framework will be jointly announced by the BOT and key financial-sector stakeholders on 10 September 2026.
