Announcement of the additional special holiday for financial institutions and specialized financial institutions in Bangkok
BOT Press Release No. 24/2026 | 09 Jun 2026
On 19 May 2026, the Cabinet announced a special public holiday in Bangkok on 16 October 2026. It also instructed government agencies in Bangkok to allow officials to work from home on 12, 14 and 15 October 2026. This aims to facilitate travel and enhance security for finance ministers and central bank governors attending the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group.
To ensure the smooth and efficient organization of the meetings, the Bank of Thailand (BOT) has announced 16 October 2026 an additional holiday for financial institutions and specialized financial institutions in Bangkok. However, these institutions may continue core operations where necessary, particularly if service suspension could cause disruption. The BOT has also requested their cooperation in allowing financial institutions and specialized financial institutions that do not provide public services to work from home on 12, 14 and 15 October 2026.
