Press release on Suspension of BAHTNET Services on Friday, October 16, 2026

As the Cabinet has designated Friday, October 16, 2026, as a special public holiday in Bangkok area to facilitate the 2026 IMF-WBG Annual Meeting hosted by Thailand from October 12-18. The Bank of Thailand (BOT) has also declared Friday, October 16, 2026, as a special non-working day for financial institutions and Specialized Financial Institutions in Bangkok, according to BOT announcement No. 26/2569 dated June 4, 2026.

 

BOT, therefore, will suspend BAHTNET services on Friday, October 16, 2026.  This may affect some financial transactions for the public and businesses.  The services that will be suspended include (1) Fund transfers via the BAHTNET system; (2) Interbank check clearing services; (3) Bulk payment transactions between banks (Bulk Payment System).

 

Accordingly, the public and businesses planning to make high-value transfers, deposit interbank checks, or pay employees or vendors on October 16, 2026, are advised to carry out these transactions beforehand or postpone them to the next business day.  In addition, On October 16, the BOT will not conduct financial market operations with its counterparties and will not publish the relevant financial market benchmark rates. The BAHTNET will resume normal services on Monday, October 19, 2026.  

 

However, the public who do not use BAHTNET services will continue to have access to financial services through other available channels as normal, including mobile banking services, ATMs, and cash deposit machines (CDM). Financial institutions will communicate this information to their users so the public and businesses can plan accordingly.  For additional inquiries, public can contact the respective financial institutions.
