The BOT is involved in Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations in the areas related to the liberalization of financial services, investment, and e-commerce, both at the bilateral and multilateral levels. Thailand had completed negotiations for various bilateral FTAs with key trading partners such as Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Chile.

At the Multilateral level, Thailand negotiates as part of ASEAN, given that negotiations as a group of countries will increase bargaining power. Examples include FTAs between ASEAN-China, ASEAN-South Korean, and ASEAN-Japan as well as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), which is an FTA among ASEAN, Australia, China, South Korea, Japan, and New Zealand, entered into force on January 1, 2022.
